Perineural Injection Therapy
Visit Length: 45 minutes
This effective therapy is used to treat neurogenic inflammation. Neurogenic inflammation happens when too much pressure is put on our nerves, making them cranky.
This pressure can come from repeated activities, such as kneeling a lot, or from tight muscles due to repeated activity (tight trap/shoulder muscles from sitting at desk all day!), or from an injury.

PIT is indicated for conditions like:

Whiplash injuries
Low back pain with or without herniation
Rotator cuff injuries
Radiating neck pain
Mild to severe tender points on the body
Post-surgical pain syndromes and burning or prickling sensations
Any condition where a nerve has been left cranky!

The injections are very shallow (just under the skin) – the idea is that treating the superficial nerves, signals to deeper nerves.
The substance injected is procaine, which is a short acting anesthetic, but ‘numbing’ only lasts 20 mins. Benefits beyond that are due to the procaine’s ability to decrease neurogenic inflammation!
